An impression of size and transparency is conveyed by the light-flooded atrium, which extends over six floors and receives its light through a generous glass roof interrupted only by crossbeams. The office floors follow the historic outer wall like a ring and are surrounded by glass parapets facing the hall; the walls facing the atrium are also glazed. In this way, the interior offices are also supplied with daylight.

In order to make optimal use of the daylight, the specialists from Winter Ingenieure, Berlin, who were commissioned with the lighting design, conceived the lighting in the offices with B.E.G. mini presence detectors. The LUXOMAT® PD9 automatically switches and controls the light depending on movements in the room. In doing so, they register even the smallest movements within a radius of 4m (at a mounting height of 2.5m), such as working at a desk. Thanks to daylight-dependent control, in dim daylight only as much light is added until the preset light value for the room is reached. In this way, no energy is wasted and the workplaces are always optimally illuminated.
