Efficiency and design in harmony
Gymnasium Tolkewitz – Dresden (DE)
Together with the 32nd secondary school, the Tolkewitz grammar school forms the new, ultra-modern Tolkewitz school centre, one of the largest school centres in Dresden. Many pedagogical and architectural highlights ensure maximum support for learning success. The construction project, which cost around €69 million, was completed in 2018. Energy-efficient building technology has also been considered: daylight is integrated into the lighting control system, while KNX occupancy detectors from B.E.G. control the lighting and ventilation.
For a long time, occupancy detectors were regarded as unsightly eyes on the ceiling. In the Tolkewitz school centre, the planners also attached great importance to a harmonious architectural concept and therefore opted for the B.E.G. PD11-Flat architectural detector. The detector's low installation height of less than 1 mm fits practically flush into the ceiling. With round and square frames, design options are available for almost all architectural requirements.
Over 300 B.E.G. KNX occupancy detectors were installed in the Tolkewitz school centre. Thanks to KNX, most of the requirements could be realised with the PD11-Flat. Design and climate protection no longer have to be mutually exclusive.
