KNX comfort without a BUS cable

News Details B.E.G. Brück Electronic GmbH

KNX is the international standard for building automation. The BUS system enables the integration of products from different manufacturers, is extremely stable and secure, and brings security and flexibility to every building. Above all, KNX is the ideal system for bringing modern convenience and a better energy balance to commercial buildings, schools and private homes. Despite its numerous advantages, the KNX BUS system has not been an option for many properties to date. This is because installing sensors in existing buildings used to mean chiselling or milling walls and ceilings, laying the KNX bus cable and plastering walls and ceilings. This is time-consuming, cost-intensive installation and restoration work.

With the PD2N-RF-KNXs-DX-FC, B.E.G.  is now launching a world first: the first KNX deluxe sensor with radio frequency transmission. With the PD2N-RF-KNXs-DX-FC, KNX is finally moving into refurbishment and modernisation projects without any effort: KNX BUS cables to the presence detector are no longer required; the usual ‘3 wiresare sufficient for the power supply.

The fast and secure transmission of the detected signals is carried out via the 868.3 MHz medium frequency with good penetration of materials and building materials. Due to the frequency, our KNX RF devices are only authorised for the European market. KNX RF is a bidirectional radio system in which devices communicate independently with each other within an RF line. A TP/RF media coupler is used to connect the radio version (KNX RF; Radio Frequency) to the classic version via KNX BUS lines (KNX TP; Twisted Pair). Commissioning of the new RF multi-sensors is carried out via the ETS, as with the TP devices.

The new RF version includes all the functionalities of the PD2N-KNXs-DX-FC, a deluxe version (DX) of the latest KNX Generation 7 and a successful model from B.E.G. Brück Electronic GmbH. The high-quality presence detector has a detection range of 10 metres. With two light sensors, it delivers outstanding results even in difficult lighting situations. The sensitivity of the sensors can be adjusted individually. Not only the body's own infrared radiation of a moving person and existing light conditions are permanently detected. Temperature and acoustic sensors are also integrated so that the devices also react to room temperatures and noises, making them multifunctional.

Like all Generation 7 DX devices, the PD2N-KNXs-DX-FC is characterised by integrated HCL control to support the well-being of building users, allowing them to choose between three standard light curves for school, industrial or office applications. Security against unauthorised intervention is provided by KNX Secure. You can find many more highlights online on the product page for the device or by enquiring at an electrical wholesaler. The standard ceiling-mounted version of the PD2N-KNXs-DX-FC can be converted for flush-mounted, surface-mounted and wall-mounted installation using accessories. Additional accessories allow the PD2N-KNXs-DX-FC to be available in four different colour options: pure white, traffic white, anthracite and black, so providing even more versatility. What is certain is that the market launch of the first KNX RF sensor opens new freedoms. Nothing now stands in the way of integrating KNX into surplus existing buildings. The B.E.G. PD2N-KNXs-DX-FC underpins the future viability of the successful KNX BUS system, boosts the business of planners, KNX integrators and installers and raises comfort and energy efficiency to a new level. Celebrate this world first with us!
