Vueling Airlines SA – Barcelona (ES)

In the new office space, the airline has housed more than 700 employees and, for the first time, has united the operations centre with the training, innovation and digitalisation centres of Vueling Tech, as well as Vueling University, an initiative that aims to create future and high-quality jobs in the technological field, focusing on young talent, together with local organisations. B.E.G.'s role in this space focused on a large, open room with 4 DALI-LINKS. This space is the heart of the company, from which it controls in real time its more than 200,000 flights per year, about 700 per day in peak season, and a fleet of 124 aircraft.

This lighting control system was developed on the basis of the DALI communication protocol, which is recognised as an international protocol by the International Electrotechnical Committee IEC in the IEC62386 standard. The control devices must comply with the multi-master principle described in part 103 of IEC 62386 (part of the DALI-2 protocol). In this way, the system allows decentralised control and distribution of intelligence, which ensures the stability of the installation and thus maximises safety.

Thanks to this installation, the Vueling building has obtained BREEAM certification, which aims to reduce environmental impact and improve energy and water efficiency.
