Casambi wireless solutions – Maximum flexibility through wirelessly networkable occupancy detectors

B.E.G. has expanded its popular PD4-GH and PD4N series of occupancy and multi-sensors with four Bluetooth-controlled Casambi models: PD4-CAS-GH DALI-2, PD4-CAS-GH, PD4N-CAS DALI-2 and PD4N-CAS can be quickly and easily operated wirelessly via the Casambi app. All those who want to illuminate high or large rooms in an energy-efficient manner are thus provided with highly flexible solutions that ensure any room utilisation in the future.

Comfort and flexibility for large rooms

Daylight illuminates the room through the windows, but there are rather dark areas near interior walls. Constant lighting conditions are desired, e.g. according to DIN EN 12464-1. The PD4N sensors from B.E.G. master such difficult lighting situations with no less than two light sensors. They ensure reliable constant lighting control. If areas are not being used, the lighting can be dimmed or switched off. This helps to reduce energy consumption and conserve luminaires. Building system technology is becoming more and more diverse, and so is B.E.G.'s range of products.

The built-in Casambi modules of the B.E.G. PD4N-CAS and PD4N-CAS DALI-2 occupancy detectors enable wireless control via the Casambi app. After the Casambi-enabled PD4 models for halls and rooms with high ceilings were enthusiastically received a year earlier, B.E.G. is expanding its wireless product range with the finnish partner.

The prospects here are also promising: instead of switching light in open-plan offices and event rooms, it may now also be staged - light colour and intensity can be individually adjusted. The PD4N-CAS DALI-2 model has an integrated DALI-2 power supply to which DALI control gear can be directly connected. The individual devices, which are also visible as luminaires in the app, can be logically networked with each other. The PD4N-CAS model does not have a DALI-2 voltage supply, but otherwise has the same sensor functions. It can also be wirelessly linked to all units after connection to mains voltage. The adaptability of PIR sensor sensitivity, reflection factor and the weighting of the two light sensors enables the optimum setting for every application.

This opens up completely new freedom for lighting control. The Casambi app is used to control the nearest device in the mesh network, which takes over communication with other devices. Desired lighting scenes and extensive automatic functions can be quickly realised via Casambi. In addition, other Casambi-enabled devices, such as wireless push-buttons, can also be integrated.

New freedom for high ceilings

By using sensors for lighting control, high energy savings can be achieved, especially in high-bay warehouses. Instead of illuminating entire halls, light is only switched on where it is needed. Connected via a 230-volt power supply, the two Bluetooth-controlled models PD4-CAS-GH DALI-2 and PD4-CAS-GH offer an intelligent, wireless extension to existing DALI-controlled lighting systems via Casambi or even completely new wireless Casambi complete solutions.

Thanks to the telescopic light sensor that can be pulled out, the measuring range can be optimised even for an installation height of up to 16 metres. Together with the adjustable parameters, this ensures reliable and energy-efficient constant light control. The oval detection area is optimally designed for use in long aisles: It has a diameter of 30 m in longitudinal direction even for frontal movements. Thus, the PD4-GH sensors create safety and comfort for warehouse users. With the innovative telescopic light sensor, the occupancy detectors are available for KNX, DALI, DALI-SYS, DALI-LINK and BMS in addition to Casambi.

The built-in Bluetooth modules from the Finnish manufacturer Casambi enable wireless control of the PD4-CAS-GH DALI-2 and PD4-CAS-GH models via the Casambi app. The PD4-CAS-GH DALI-2 model has an integrated DALI-2 power supply to which DALI control gear can be directly connected. The individual devices, which are also visible as luminaires in the app, can be logically networked with each other. There is no need for a physical connection via the DALI bus. The PD4-CAS-GH model does not have a DALI-2 voltage supply, but otherwise has the same functions. It can also be wirelessly linked to all units after connection to mains voltage. This opens up completely new freedom for lighting control in high-bay warehouses.

The Casambi app is used to control the nearest device in the mesh network, which takes over communication with other devices. Desired lighting scenes and extensive automatic functions can be quickly realised via Casambi. In addition, other Casambi-enabled devices such as wireless push-buttons can also be integrated. For those who like to rely on luminaires, buttons and sensors within a pure Casambi network, the PD4-CAS-GH is the perfect device for use at great heights.
