Energy-efficient lighting for industry and logistics
Almost no other area offers such a high potential at energy savings as high-bay warehouses, where light is switched on and off centrally. Instead of illuminating all aisles and corridors during all working hours, this should only be done as required. The light should only be switched on when there are people present. If there is sufficient daylight, the artificial light should be switched off.
However, warehouses pose special challenges for lighting control: Mounting heights of 10 metres and more are not unusual. Conventional detectors have difficulties here, on the one hand because they are designed to detect tangential movement better and, on the other hand, because of the extreme mounting height. The light values reflected from the floor can only be measured with difficulty due to laterally interfering light.
B.E.G. occupancy detectors and multisensors from the PD4-GH series have the appropriate sensor technology for motion detection and light measurement precisely for this requirement.
They have a telescopic light sensor that can be pulled out to measure only light refelcted from the floor at any installation height (up to 16m) - and not light reflected by shelves, for example, which makes constant light control difficult with standard detectors. The large lens captures sufficient light from the floor even from a height of 16m to achieve constant light control.

Benefits of demand-oriented lighting control:

The energy costs for the lighting are massively reduced, usually between 60% and 80%.

The luminaires (or light sources) are less stressed and last longer. Maintenance intervals can become longer, resulting in lower costs and lower resource consumption.

Safety is increased because no one can wrongly turn off the light for a large area even though someone is still on site.
